Riccar Vacuums: Models, Differences and What to Check

Riccar vacuums here are four bagged, corded uprights: one SupraLite at 4.08 kg and three Tandem Air models of roughly 10 kg, all with HEPA media bags. This page compares them by listed specifications and notes the drawbacks.

  • Brand: riccar

The lightest Riccar vacuum we list is the SupraLite Premium R10P at 9 lb (4.08 kg), less than half the weight of the other three models in the brand's range. Those three, the Brilliance Deluxe R30D, the Radiance Premium R40P and the Tandem Air Premium Pet Upright, are dual-motor Tandem Air uprights near 22 lb (10 kg). All four are corded and bagged, so if you want a bagless, cordless or robot vacuum, Riccar is not where to look.

Some figures come from secondary sources. Riccar also sells bagged canisters, but this page covers only the uprights we compare.

Weight splits the Riccar range in two

A brand median of 22.24 lb (10.09 kg) tells the story: the range is a single light upright plus a cluster of heavy ones. The R10P's 8.99 lb (4.08 kg) is the lowest listed weight within Riccar's range, while the R30D lists 22.00 lb (9.98 kg) and the R40P and Pet Upright both list 22.5 lb (10.2 kg). For stairs, a second-floor bedroom or anyone who tires carrying a vacuum, that gap matters more than any other line on the spec sheet.

Riccar's own site describes its uprights as running from lightweight SupraLite models to cordless and pet-friendly options, and describes Tandem Air as pairing Direct Air carpet cleaning with Clean Air filtration and tool performance. In the Tandem Air design, one motor handles carpet cleaning and the other powers above-floor tools.

SupraLite Premium R10P9 lb (4.08 kg)Self-sealing HEPA media bag; Hall-sensor jam protection with lifetime belt; metal brushroll with replaceable brushstrips
Brilliance Deluxe R30D22 lb (9.98 kg)Tandem Air dual-motor system; 6-level height adjustment; HEPA media with granulated charcoal filter
Radiance Premium R40P Tandem Air22.5 lb (10.2 kg)Tandem Air dual motors; seven-stage HEPA filtration; self-sealing HEPA media bag with charcoal layer
Tandem Air Premium Pet Upright22.5 lb (10.2 kg)Tandem Air dual motor; 7-stage filtration with HEPA Plus media and granulated charcoal filter; sealed system

Every model lists a HEPA media bag, so filtration does not separate the SupraLite from the rest as much as weight and motor layout do.

Matching a Riccar to your home

Stairs, small homes or lighter carrying: the R10P is the only model under 11.0 lb (5 kg). It keeps HEPA bag filtration and belt protection while giving up the dual-motor layout.

Mostly carpet and larger living areas: the Tandem Air models are the ones with two motors. The R30D adds six height settings, while the R40P and the pet upright list a seven-stage filtration system.

Pet homes: the Tandem Air Premium Pet Upright is the model Riccar positions for pets, with HEPA Plus media and a charcoal filter. The R40P lists a similar filtration setup, so compare the two side by side. We have no verified pet-hair performance data, so treat the pet name as positioning, not a result.

Our best upright vacuums category lets you set these against other brands, and a Bissell upright is a common alternative if you prefer a bagless design. If your main need is deep-cleaning rugs and upholstery with water, a carpet shampooer is a different tool entirely.

Trade-offs of bagged, corded uprights

  • Weight: three of the four models sit near 22.0 lb (10 kg), which is heavy to carry up stairs.
  • Bags: you will buy replacement bags for the life of the machine.
  • Corded only: none of these is cordless; for battery-powered options, start with a Dyson cordless stick vacuum comparison.
  • Warranty varies: Riccar's own pages show differing warranty lengths for the R40P, so confirm current terms with the seller before buying.
  • Specification accuracy: some figures come from secondary sources, so confirm them before you buy, and weights are rounded when converted to pounds.

Bags, belts and filters

Riccar vacuum parts matter more on a bagged upright than on a bagless one. Riccar sells charcoal-lined HEPA media bags and filter sets for the R40 series, and the R10P and R40P both list Hall-sensor jam protection. A jam stops the brushroll so you can clear it and restart without replacing a broken belt. Always match bags and filters to your exact model number before ordering.

Are Riccar vacuums bagged or bagless?

All four Riccar uprights here are bagged. Each uses a self-sealing or sealed HEPA media bag, and the three Tandem Air models also add a granulated charcoal filter. The SupraLite Premium R10P weighs 4.08 kg (about 9 lb); the Brilliance Deluxe R30D weighs 9.98 kg (about 22 lb), and the R40P and Premium Pet models 10.2 kg (about 22.5 lb). A bagged design means ongoing bag purchases, but the dirt is sealed away when you change the bag. If you want a bagless dust cup, you would need to look at another brand.

Does Riccar make cordless or robot vacuums?

Not among the four models we list. Our Riccar roster is four corded, bagged uprights: the SupraLite R10P, Brilliance R30D, Radiance R40P and the Tandem Air Premium Pet Upright. Riccar's own site mentions cordless uprights and bagged canisters as part of its range, but those are not covered here, so check Riccar directly if you need one. If cordless is a must-have, compare other brands in our cordless category first.
