Specifications are compiled from manufacturer and retailer listings, not hands-on testing. A listed feature such as a HEPA filter is a specification, not a health or allergy claim.

Can't decide? Ask someone
Both the Shark Stratos and the Shark Rotator Pet are corded uprights with cords of about 25 ft, so the gap that decides it is weight: 22.7 lb (10.3 kg) for the Stratos against 15.2 lb (6.89 kg) for the Rotator. In this Shark Stratos versus Shark Rotator choice, that weight difference is traded against extras. Both are bagless, with a self-cleaning brushroll, a sealed system and HEPA filtration. The Shark Stratos AZ3002 adds a powered Lift-Away pod; the Shark Rotator Pet ZU102 offers a longer extendable hose reach.
Where the Stratos and Rotator Pet overlap
The overlap is large, which is why the choice can feel hard. According to Shark's product pages, both models:
- run on corded mains power (120 V);
- are bagless, with an Anti-Allergen Complete Seal paired with a HEPA filter;
- use a self-cleaning brushroll designed to avoid hair wrap;
- include Odor Neutralizer Technology with a cartridge;
- have washable foam and felt filters (the Rotator lists a washable HEPA filter too);
- carry a five-year limited warranty.

Weight, cord and hose in daily use
Weight. The 3.41 kg gap (about 7.5 lb) is the most concrete difference. An upright you carry up stairs or lift into a closet is easier to live with at 15.2 lb (6.89 kg) than at 22.7 lb (10.3 kg). If you mostly vacuum one floor, the Stratos's weight matters less.
Cord. The Stratos cord is 7.62 m (25 ft). Shark lists the Rotator cord both as 25.7 ft and as 300 in (25 ft), and this page uses 7.8 m. That is a gap of 0.18 m at most, so treat the cord as a tie rather than a reason to choose.
Lift-Away. Shark describes the Stratos pod as powered, so you can lift it off the base for motorized cleaning under furniture. The Rotator's product page does not mention a detachable pod, so assume you would rely on the hose and tools for those spots.
Hose and tools. The Rotator's hose extends to 12 ft of total reach, which helps with stairs and upholstery. The Stratos has a 3 ft hose plus an upholstery tool and a pet power brush in the box.
Dust cup. The Stratos cup is 1.5 qt. Shark does not publish the Rotator's 3XL cup volume in a comparable unit, so we cannot say which holds more.
Stratos or Rotator: matching the upright to your home
- Pick the Rotator if weight is your main worry, you carry the vacuum between floors, or you want a long hose reach for stairs.
- Pick the Stratos if you want the powered Lift-Away pod for under furniture and a larger set of tools, and you are comfortable with a heavier machine.
- Pet owners: both list a self-cleaning brushroll and an odor cartridge, so the pet-hair features are close. The Rotator Pet is named for pets, but the Stratos also carries a pet power brush.
- Allergy-conscious households: both pair HEPA with a sealed system.
The Stratos is also compared with other Shark uprights on the Stratos vs Detect Pro and Stratos vs Rotator Lift-Away pages.
More corded models are listed on the Shark upright vacuum range page.

What the published specs leave out
Specs cannot show how each vacuum handles thick carpet, how loud it is, or how well the brushroll resists tangles over time. Shark does not publish noise levels or suction wattage for either model in the sources we checked, so we do not compare them.
Does the Shark Rotator or the Stratos weigh less?
The Shark Rotator Pet ZU102 is lighter. Shark lists it at 15.19 lb (6.89 kg), while the Stratos AZ3002 is listed at 22.71 lb (10.3 kg), a difference of roughly 7.5 lb or 3.41 kg. Both are corded, bagless uprights with a five-year limited warranty. If you carry your vacuum up stairs or store it in a tight closet, the lower weight of the Rotator is the clearest practical advantage in the published specs, though weight alone does not tell you how either performs on carpet.
Do the Stratos and Rotator have a HEPA filter?
Yes, both pair a HEPA filter with Shark's Anti-Allergen Complete Seal in a sealed system. Shark's Stratos page describes the HEPA filter as post-motor, with washable felt and foam filters ahead of the motor. The Rotator page lists washable HEPA, foam and felt filters. HEPA filtration is a design feature rather than a guarantee of health outcomes, so people with serious allergies should check with their doctor.
